OUR PRACTICE AREAS

MEDIATION

Mediation is a private process where a neutral third person called a mediator helps the parties discuss and try to resolve the dispute. The parties have the opportunity to describe the issues, discuss their interests, understandings, and feelings; provide each other with information and explore ideas for the resolution of the dispute. While courts can mandate that certain cases go to mediation, the process remains "voluntary" in that the parties are not required to come to an agreement. The mediator does not have the power to make a decision for the parties but can help the parties find a resolution that is mutually acceptable. The only people who can resolve the dispute in mediation are the parties themselves. - American Bar Association

MATRIMONIAL & FAMILY LAW

Dissolving your marriage can be very difficult, even when both parties want it. My goal is to help you reach a settlement in a fair and amicable way. Frankly, I hate to see people spend exorbitant amounts of money on litigating (especially if you have children) when it can usually be avoided. Hey....... I will take your money, but I am sure you have better things to spend it on. I specialize in working with people from all walks of life with diverse backgrounds.  I handled the first gay divorce in Suffolk County.  Services that are provided:  Divorces, Annulments, Separations, Pre & Post Nuptial Agreements, Custody and Child Support matters.

TRUSTS AND ESTATES

Everyone needs estate planning, even if you do not have a significant amount of assets. One of the best gifts that you can leave a loved one is to have your estate all taken care of.  That way, when the time comes, your loved ones can focus on their grief rather than having to make difficult decisions.

Client Testimonials

Without a current will or current advance directives, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer with little warning. Upon hearing the prognosis, we called Debra Brown for help. She met us in the emergency room armed with her laptop within an hour. Debra created all of the necessary documents right there. What I remember most is seeing Debra, literally on the floor of the nurses’ station plugging her laptop into the station’s printer in order to execute everything onsite. We are so grateful to Debra for her tremendous expeditiousness and compassion.....Robyn B.

Debra Brown helped me in more ways than just my case. She is a tough dedicated attorney who will always do her best for you. She stood by me while I went through a rough part in my life and she cared. I highly recommend her to anyone who is the need of a real professional and dedicated attorney.....Edgar T.

Debra Brown represented me in a very difficult divorce case. Her exceptional follow-up and determination in getting me the best possible settlement is something I will be forever grateful for! She is kind, patient, and easy to talk to. Debra took the time to really get to know me and treated me more like a friend than a client. She definitely helped me navigate through some of my darkest days in an area I knew nothing about. She is trustworthy and loyal beyond compare. I felt completely cared for and knew she always had my best interest at heart. My case should have been settled sooner due to the other side being so adversarial, but she took a personal interest in getting me justice and definitely went the distance! Thank you, Deb!!..JoAnne T.

Debi Brown is an outstanding, phenomenal, experienced, and skilled attorney. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking an attorney that “knows her stuff” and will fight for your best interest. It was almost a (2+ plus years) journey trying to divorce after a 25-year vintage marriage. This was one of the most painful, difficult and yet learning experiences I’ve embraced in my life over time! Debbie’s skills, services, and countless fights for everything I deserved were just powerful. She never stopped fighting for me! She always advocated for my best interest even when I wasn’t even thinking that was the best outcome or strategy for me. Take all of her advice! Do not get into your emotions, trust her work ethic and her experience and you will appreciate the outcome when it’s all over and done with! Follow her roadmap to a faster path of getting out so you’re NOT stuck for months… I’m thankful that during such a tough time in my life I had the best attorney representing me. Thank you Debi for getting to know me and fighting for me.....Nadine D.
